SPIN YOUR FEARS INTO SOMETHING POSITIVE

no one would think of fear as a fantasy.. almost ever.

but if you look at it as one, you can accomplish so many things.

there were and are still countless things i'm scared to do, or even think about doing. but when i know i want something.. i do everything i can to make that happen. let your fears drive you.

read that again.. let your fears drive you.

don't let fear shut you down. let it wake you up.

since i was in 5th grade, i fell completely in love with big cities. honestly it was probably before that, but that's when i remember it. i did a report on the state of New York, and since then the obsession grew. When i was about 12 i went to New York City for the first time ever, with a modeling group.. but neither of my parents could afford to go along with me. so i went on my own. (yes we had other parents there.. but not mine). that was terrifying, but it was one hell of an experience.. i was excited but also terrified. after going i knew what i wanted.. to live in the city, in an apartment, with a dog, and do something art/ design related and as scary as that was, its everything i've ever wanted.

some people are so afraid to ask questions. so afraid to speak up, to say how they feel, to do what they love, to be who they are. change it.

change it for you, own your fears. - stop being that person.

don't get me wrong, i have had my fair share of doubting myself, hating myself, thinking i wasn't everything i could be, having countless times of no energy to even care... but it takes a whole hell of a lot of work. even if its small steps at first. overcoming just one fear will help you feel more confident with every small step you make.

SOME OF MY FEARS I OUTGREW; AND PUSHED THROUGH:

◾going to college

but i met amazing people who help me everyday.

◾moving away

but then i got a job i love, and to get a whole new family.

◾moving out

but i finally got to have everything i dreamed of.

◾creating this blog

to share that not everything is perfect, and life is hard.

◾loving myself

knowing my worth, and that i do matter.

HELPFUL TIPS ON OVERCOMING SELF DOUBT

AND YOUR OWN FEARS:

1. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO MAKE YOU SEE YOUR WORTH.

Everyone needs reassurance. And having people around you to help you feel and see that, is huge and will help you get that extra boost of motivation you might need.

2. SPEND TIME ON YOURSELF

Spend even just 15 minutes a day on yourself. Writing, going to the gym, being off of your phone, reading, or just collecting your thoughts.

3. YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO IT ALL

There are countless pressures of people around us, on social media or in person. Who make things look so easy, doing 15+ things and still going on vacation every other day. take on small tasks, make them a habit, and then start adding more to your plate. Once you have it down as a consistent habit, it is easier to take on more things at once.... don’t feel bad if you can’t handle everything (I don’t even think that’s humanly possible).

4. TAKE YOUR TIME

It always seems like there is a rush to get everything done all the time and so fast. Be patient – yes it sucks to just wait, but almost nothing happens overnight, keep at it and rewards will happen.

5. STOP WORRYING ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE

Seriously, let the thoughts of what everyone else “thinks” of you, go. Does it truly matter if that one person didn’t like your picture... or think that your career path is dumb? No. do what makes you happy and the people who want that for you, will be more than enough.

6. YOU DON’T ALWAYS HAVE TO BE MOVING FORWARD

Sometimes in life there’s a wall. You hit it and you hit it hard. But that’s just how this works. Not every move you make is going to make this huge impact that you recognize right away and that’s okay.

“You just have to get rid of fear and confront the world. Look at yourself in the mirror and say to yourself, ‘I love you and nothing will destroy you and you’re not going to fall.’” Ricky Martin

you can do this. and you can be confident. and you can love yourself and know your worth. but it does take time, courage, and practice. but you can make it happen.
