Saving over Spending

we all know that living on your own seems great, until you realize how much money you're "throwing away". ... or at least me anyway.

now i'm not the best with saving money. i love shopping.. that's a well known thing. but i also love traveling and going out. ... but i do decently well at managing all of those things while also paying all of my bills.

i took a huge setback, because last weekend i had a huge mess up with the airlines and got stuck in NYC for an additional day after buying 3 flights. yes. three. it was a rough and stressful time. so that being said, i need to get back to saving and less on spending.

so here are some tips and tricks i use to save money for living alone and still getting to travel as much as i do.... and shop.

1. meal prep. .. its not all about the health of it, but the simplicity. it's a lot easier to just grab an already made lunch and walk out the door than having the possible outcome of something happening in the morning and you not having time to make it, or just completely forgetting it.

2. cancel any subscriptions that you don't need. .. if you don't use amazon prime, don't pay for it. if you only want amazon TV, don't pay for you tube.

3. drink more water instead of buying juices/sodas.

5. use a Brita water filter instead of buying a ton of water bottles. it's better for the environment and saves space in your fridge.

6. when meat/fish/fruits are on sale.. buy more, and then freeze them. not only did you get the deal, but now you saved on having to go to the store again when you realize the fridge is getting low.

7. if you pay for a gym membership - shower there. you're already there + paying for it and you'll save on your water bill.

8. shop the sale if you're gonna shop. i LOVE shopping, would definitely say it's a slight addiction of mine.. so if you're going to do it, shop the sale.. plus you'll probably get more than you thought you would.

9. do a no spending challenge. only on essentials - by essentials i don't mean the new t-shirt you want for vacation. only things that are essential to basic living.

the last time i did that challenge i saved an enormous amount. even if you only do it for a week.. that's still amazing.

10. turn on your notifications. whenever you use a card have it pop up on your phone.. it sucks to see, but once you start recognizing how much you're spending on dumb things, you'll be able to cut back a lot easier.

all pretty basic saving tips. but it never hurts to see the again.

number 9 & 10 are a couple big ones to focus on and easy to start with.

every time i challenge myself to save money even for a week.. i'm beyond impressed with myself. but working on all of these together, is a huge bonus and you'll be able to spend a lot more on traveling or doing the things you actually want to be doing.

just some Sunday savings tips.

more frequent posts to come. can't wait to share them all.

as always, thanks for reading! leave a comment or tell me how you're feeling or even what you ate today, anything .. and if you log in, you'll get emails about my posts! (fancy right, i know😉)

Hope the rest of this week treats you all well

xx
