That Shark Challenge

Some of you know, some of you don't. But i LOVE to keep busy. i need to stay busy.. being busy helps me focus (weird, i know). it helps me focus, it helps my mind not wonder .. if i know i have things to do i feel like i'm always accomplishing something and that's comforting to me. when i have too much down time i start to get uncomfortable - almost stressed out because i feel like i should be doing something. (now, don't get me wrong. i love my down time and laying around sometimes.. but it gets to be too much other times as well.)

above picture: the start of my fitness journey

so at the beginning of the year, when i started my blog, i also started the Gymshark 66 challenge. the whole point of the challenge isn't just fitness based. it's to create habits, and make them part of your every day routine. it's to prove to yourself that you can change in every and any way that you want too. you can workout every day if you want too, you can gain more muscle, you can learn a new language, it's limitless as long as you challenge yourself and follow through with it, making it a habit. there are a lot of ways i wanted to better myself and start doing things for me. this blog was the main one i wanted to accomplish, i think i've been doing pretty damn well.

before I did the Gymshark 66 challenge i did a 8 week challenge ....

in this 8 week program (transformation pictures on the left) with Kryss DeSandre. and yes if you've known me for long i have always been a fairly fit and small person. but sometimes. these are my transition photos from an 8 week program. i think i did pretty well - but not as well as i wanted. (we all know it takes time and a lot of effort to gain muscle... i have always been a 'thin' individual (its in the genes), but it's also hard to gain muscle for me and gain weight (yeah some people say that i'm lucky.. which sure i would say yeah i'm kinda lucky, but when it comes to gaining muscle it sucks really bad). i did fairly well. so i wanted to try and push myself little more, which is why i did the Gymshark 66 challenge.

for the Gymshark66 that i challenged myself with were ....

day one
  1. drink more water

  2. gain more muscle- legs mostly

  3. make one blog post a week

  4. give myself a mental break from technology for 30 minutes at night

  5. call someone i love once a day

  6. put more money in savings

  7. be more aware of the community i live in + be more aware in politics

  8. take one task at a time

1. drinking more water -

sounds like an easy task - not as easy as i thought, but i did do okay. and i'm doing better. drinking more water overall makes me feel better and less tired.. weird, it's like what all the doctors say is right or something. 😂

2. gaining more muscle -

a very hard task for me to accomplish,. but i've been working on it and think that its gone pretty well.

3. making one blog post a week -

also done fairly well considering i only missed one week. and i have a lot of posts in my drafts as well that i cannot wait to post and share with you guys (along with the ones that i think of daily because of random things that go through my mind). 😘 plus knowing i help even just one of you, makes me feel even more happy about my posts.

4. break from technology -

now we all know i am a freak about my social media (mainly instagram) but i actually do well at putting my phone down and not being on the computer during the day for even more than 30 minutes. this is one of my biggest accomplishments.. to shut out the "world" for a little every day.

5. call someone i love -

this also sounds easy.. it was at first, but keeping up with it was a challenge all in its own. but i'm glad to have set this habit to talk to someone i love once a day. and i mean talk, hear a voice, reaction, something, over the phone. (this is huge because being away from home and my family is hard, but getting to hear their voice makes a huge difference in my day.)❤

6. savings -

this one was hard because i LOVE to shop.. we all know this. new clothes and new things make me happy.. it's like whitney 101. BUT i have been doing better and managing my finances a little better. (a little for me, is a lot.)

7. politics -

this one is hard, but i do watch the news while in the gym some mornings which is also a huge task for me (i respect politics, it's just not something i like spending my time focusing on.) i think this is the habit i did worst on making a habit.. but i'm still working on it.

8. one task at a time -

this one differs every single day. sometimes i catch myself getting to overwhelmed and i need to take a step back. but realizing when i start to get overwhelmed is a good habit to now have.. realizing when i need to relax or walk away from something. 🤳

and the best part ..... the part that we were all waiting for; my whole transformation from the 66 days. ... here we are.

doing great, and excited to keep going. maybe my next habit will be cutting more sugars out of my diet .. (yea right haha).. but there are other habits that i want to make part of my day, and now that i feel like i have accomplished those 8 things, i can do even more while improving on those too.

(these pictures would be better.. and i have more muscle than these show.. but its hard to get good pics of myself 😫)

now remember just because someone has a challenge that starts at some specific day or something, does not mean you can't do it. you can create a challenge for yourself any day and create a new habit that you want to be a part of your life. you can do anything you want too, and don't have to do anything you don't.

thanks for reading. leave a comment or tell me how you're feeling or even what you ate today, anything .. and if you log in, you'll get emails about my posts! (fancy right, i know😉)

Hope the weekend treats you all well

xx
