I haven't posted in awhile, but i'm going to change that. Starting with this one. now that it's "spring" in the Midwest, we have a combination of allergies and colds. .. gets unbelievably annoying. on top of that, i had a birthday trip last weekend that kicked my ass, now i have a cold.
i rarely get sick, and when i do it's not fore more than a couple days.. i'm hoping that's how it goes this time as well.
so i decided to make this post on all the things i do to get better faster and not mope about being sick allllllllllllllllllllll day long. .. being sick is more annoying than anything, honestly. gets in the way of you doing everything you want to do. but of course, it is a way of your body telling you to chill the fuck out. so here's my tips and little recipes that make being sick a little less terrible..
here's a few of the known things.. most common ~
- clean the house, or at least your bedroom ... yeah sounds like the most unappealing thing to do when you're sick and just wanna lay down, but cleaning the place you live and having
- clean sheets makes you already feel better.
- obviously lots of water, everyone knows that. but actually drink it, a lot of it, and often.
- vitamins!! .. a daily vitamin, and loads of vitamin C, obviously, we all know that. i take a daily vitamin, vitamin d, collagen + vitamin C, magnesium, and turmeric + ginger,
- sleep on a slight upward angle, it helps with congestion and you sleeping with a cold.
- just sleep. don't stay up late trying to watch tv or get extra things done.. just, sleep.
- don't sniffle your snot back in ... get a tissue and get it out, your body clearly wants it out. plus no one wants to hear you trying to hack up something, it's rather disturbing.
- more fruits and veggies! or get a 100% juice drink to help kick the cold you got. (some are completely disgusting.. but some aren't.)
my favorite tea recipes ~
1. in the morning (in place of coffee) : Green Tea, Lemon, Honey (honey that is made close to you or in your state is better for you, it helps local businesses as well as helping your allergies), and ACV (apple cider vinegar. yes, i'm not gonna lie to you, it's pretty disgusting, but, it helps, and helps fast.. but it is also good to take every day in general for loads of other benefits.)
2. throughout the day : Berry or fruit tea, with lemon. (add honey if you have a sore throat or if you just want it to be a little more sweet than regular "leaf water" as my brother calls it.)
3. at night (before bed, or when trying to decompress) : sleepy time tea, spearmint tea + lemon. (i try not to use honey before bed since i use a lot during the day, and it's a lot of sugar when you use as much as i do.. oops.)
essential oil recipes ~
1. sore throat + cough : Equal Parts : Clove, Frankincense, Lemon, and Peppermint
2. Headache & congestion : Equal Parts : Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint
3. Cold + Cough : 3 Peppermint, 2 Lavender, 2 Eucalyptus, 1 Tea Tree
(if your headache is unbearable, lay in
my favorite soup recipes ~
1. box soup : Mrs, Grass Box soup. (directions on back of the box.) i can swear to you i have had this ever since i was little and you will feel amazing after you eat it.
2. Chicken Broth : Yup. Literally just that. 8 oz. of boiling water, and at chicken bullion. (i use the paste, i think it has better flavor. but you can also get the cubes!) it's easy and fast if you're in a hurry.
3. Mom's Pastina : Boil 16 oz. of water, add chicken bullion (directions differ per brand/type) and 1 box of Pastina noodles to water. - i use the whole box, like how Mamma S use to make it, it makes it into a think almost paste.. you can use less noodles to make it more of a broth.
4. My Orzo : Boil 16 oz. of water, add sliced carrots and celery. once water comes to a boil add chicken bullion paste (i use the "better than bullion" paste), and box of orzo noodles, in about 8 minutes check noodle consistency.
face masks ~
1. que bella: detoxifying black peel off mask. - actually peels off how peel offs are meant to, makes skin feel soft and refreshed after.
2. que bella : rearing charcoal mud mask. - has a cooling feeling
3. que bella : energizing lime & mint, scrub & peel off mask. - refreshing feeling and cooling of mint
and there you have it.
i'm gonna try and kick this cold that i hope none of you are dealing with.
as always, thanks for reading! leave a comment or tell me how you're feeling or even what you ate today, anything .. and if you log in, you'll get emails about my posts! (fancy right, i know😉)
