REST! It's part of the program.

i finally gained the courage to make my own workout program.

this time around i wanted to focus on legs and core, i mainly wanted to do this to get some feedback on my first time around for this quick 3 week program to get up and moving and help everyone feel good about doing a program with someone - even if we're not going to the gym together.. we're still doing it together- and i'm so excited to be doing this with all of you; thanks for trusting me! 💪


that being said; getting into the gym isn't the only important part of fitness, rest days are just as important.


so i thought i would compile some of my favorite things to do for sore muscles and rest days. it's not a very long list, but it is some of the things that i love and have noticed actually help.


BEST THINGS FOR SORE MUSCLES ...

  • Epsom salt bath

  • use a foam roller to roll out sore muscles

  • STRETCH. .. yes that's one of my favorites and i say it all the time, but seriously. do it.


BEST RECOVERY FOODS ...

  • whole eggs (hard boiled are great) - a good source of protein

  • pineapple and kiwi - help fight pain and inflammation

  • water. - the obvious one; to help hydrate your body

  • almonds - to help repair damaged tissue

  • tart cherries - improve recovery time, decrease muscle pain, and reduce muscle damage

  • BCAA's - i use the BPI Sports kind in snow cone flavor

  • carbs - yes, i said it. carbs. - to help refuel your body

  • protein - not just meats and such - i use the whey protein in strawberry

  • chocolate milk


BEST REST DAT ACTIVITIES ...

  • going in the hot tub or for a swim - to get your muscles to move a little and not stiffen up

  • SLEEP. - get some sleep. let your body actually recover.

  • sit on the couch and binge watch some TV.

  • yoga - again, with my whole stretching thing.

  • clean the house - to keep your muscles slightly moving
